One of the things I will not forget from photojournalism class is this. It is hands and faces that create emotion in photographs. This is something I’ve noticed more and more this year while sorting photos from each shoot. A photograph can hold much more substance by capturing emotion, and it is hands and faces that hold this emotion.

That’s a lie. I find it’s the hairline and abdomen that carry the emotional weight of the frame. Disagree with me and I’ll send a bear after you.

PS: Great foto taking, as usual. I love three and four! Three just captures their relationship. I don’t know them at all, but, from the photo, I know that they deeply care about each other and are OK with crossing normal bubble spaces with each other. And four is just sexy. The contrast is right on, the focus pops, and the frame is wonderfully composed. I would purchase number four.

In number two, I want a little more contrast on his face, it feels like it has no dimension. I think six needed a little shallower depth of field. I don’t know, something seems off. Like it’s 90% of your usual KABAM! Again, your worst photos are still amazing works of art, keep up the good work!

i disagree with Adam and, well… i will have my bear horn handy at all times. But very good point, i will keep that in mind when i am shooting my next wedding.

Smokey should be at Adams’ front door by now. It all comes down to capturing the natural expressions that are unique to each person. The guy trying to fix his tie, the kids jumping… 10 years from now, these will be the kind of pictures that will be priceless for Kaylee and Adam. They tell a story.

    Ben, I agree.

I do wish I had more opportunities to take portraits though. No one I know likes to show emotion in photos…

I will live vicariously through you.

that kid’s fluffy buzz haircut is rad.
